Gibson Wines Reserve Shiraz

Awarded the Best Shiraz in Show at the 2022 London Wine Competition!

Gibson Wines is one of our favourite wineries and we go there often to take friends or when they have their popular Gibson Fun Days on the winery grounds. We always recommend visiting the cellar door to our friends who ask for winery tips.

The Gibson Reserve Shiraz is up there with our all-time favourite wines. Rob Gibson has very long and deep relationships with the growers of some of the best Shiraz vineyards in the Barossa. This Shiraz is the result of up to 30 individual Shiraz parcel components from many of those growers, that they carefully select from the barrels to provide a wine with particular finesse and structure that are the precursors to age-ability.

Single vineyards express individuality that is sometimes used to produce some outstanding single-vineyard wines. In this stunning wine, Rob builds in many layers of complexity through fruit sources from various sites of the Barossa.

One and two-tonne open-topped fermenters were used along with other detail-orientated small batch winemaking methods, including hand plunging and basket pressing.

The Reserve Shiraz style is led by French oak finesse, with 18 months in new and matured French oak Hogsheads and Puncheons.

The result is a wine of deep crimson colour, a fine expression of Barossa Shiraz displaying intense aromas of concentrated dark fruits, blood plums and cloves, with hints of nougat. The palate shows richness and power, with lingering layers of concentrated black fruits, chocolate and creamy oak.

The colour is deep crimson with a crimson hue. The aroma is concentrated dark fruits, blood plums and cloves together with spicy oak and hints of nougat.

The palate shows richness and power with layers of concentrated black fruits, chocolate and a creamy oak with soft generous tannins providing incredible length.
