About Lou Miranda Estate
Lou Miranda Estate is a family-owned boutique winery based at Rowland Flat in the southern Barossa Valley. Established in its present form in 2005, the estate continues a family winemaking tradition that began generations earlier and remains grounded in wine, food, family and generous Italian hospitality.
The family believes that great food and wine are best enjoyed together. That philosophy shapes the vineyard, winery and cellar-door experience, where visitors are welcomed to share wine, conversation and the relaxed pleasures of the Barossa.
A Family Tradition
The Miranda family story began when Francesco “Pop” Miranda arrived in Australia in 1938. Drawing on his southern Italian upbringing, he believed that good wine was inseparable from a loving family, close friends and food shared around the table.
His son Lou and Lou’s wife Val spent a lifetime building on that passion and adding their own style to the family business. The estate carries Lou’s name in recognition of that dedication and the role he played in shaping the family’s Barossa future.
The Third Generation
Today, Lou and Val’s daughters Lisa, Angela and Victoria Miranda run the family vineyards, winery and cellar door. Each sister contributes a different area of expertise while sharing responsibility for protecting the family’s heritage and guiding the estate into its next chapter.
Lisa leads the business as General Manager, drawing on extensive experience in international wine sales and business management. Angela is the family winemaker, bringing more than a decade of international vintage, technical and winery-management experience. Victoria oversees marketing and visual communication, helping translate the family story across the estate and its wine ranges.
Together, the three sisters combine tradition with a modern outlook, producing wines intended to express the quality of the land while remaining approachable, generous and made for sharing.
Estate Vineyards and Old Vines
Lou Miranda Estate manages approximately 100 acres of estate-owned vineyards across four sites around Rowland Flat and Lyndoch, all located within a short distance of the winery.
The Winery Block contains Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, while the larger Dam Block includes Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sagrantino, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio.
The Church Block, situated between the winery and the neighbouring church, includes centenarian Shiraz and Grenache plantings. Angel’s Vineyard at Lyndoch contains rare old-vine Shiraz and Mourvèdre dating back to the late 1890s.
Great Wine Begins with Great Fruit
The family’s guiding philosophy comes from their grandfather, who believed that great wine could only be made from great fruit. That principle continues through rigorous vineyard management, disciplined fruit selection and careful handling from barrel to bottle.
The estate’s oldest vines are dry-grown, naturally low-yielding and deeply rooted. Although they produce fewer bunches, the resulting fruit offers concentration, structure and complexity that younger vines cannot easily reproduce.
From the approachable Leone and Fierce III collections to the limited Heritage Series, Lou Miranda Estate combines traditional family values with modern winemaking, creating Barossa wines that honour the vineyard while remaining firmly connected to the table.
