About Eisenstone Wines
Eisenstone Wines celebrates the rich German heritage and distinctive landscape of the Barossa Valley. Its name combines the German word Eisen, meaning iron, with the English word Stone, recognising both the ironstone soils in which many of the region’s vines grow and the local stone used by early German settlers to construct Barossa buildings that remain part of the landscape today.
Specialists in Barossa Valley Shiraz
Eisenstone’s ambition is to specialise in Barossa Valley Shiraz, the variety most closely associated with the region around the world. Rather than treating the Barossa as one uniform landscape, the winery explores the differences between its recognised subregions, where changes in soil, elevation, climate and vineyard aspect produce subtle but identifiable expressions of Shiraz.
Creator and winemaker Stephen Cook secures special parcels of fruit from selected vineyards, particularly across the western ranges of the Barossa Valley. These sites are renowned for producing full-bodied and powerful wines with concentrated flavour, depth, structure and the ability to develop over many years.
Distinct Vineyards, Limited Releases
Each Eisenstone wine is intended to preserve the character of its vineyard and subregion. Fruit is fermented in small batches before the wines are matured patiently in oak. The approach favours minimal intervention and limited movement before bottling, allowing the natural concentration, texture and regional character of the fruit to remain at the centre of the finished wine.
Production is deliberately limited in every vintage, with bottles individually numbered. The resulting wines combine the generosity and power expected from Barossa Shiraz with careful structure, site expression and exceptional cellaring potential.
