About Bruno & George Winery
Although the label suggests only two, Bruno & George is the work of three best mates: Bruce Blackwell, Christian Roediger and Josh Norman. Together, they combine deep Barossa roots, international wine experience and a shared commitment to producing wines with character, elegance and a genuine sense of place.
Bruce Blackwell
Bruce grew up around St Hallett Wines, watching the ferments made by his father, renowned winemaker Stuart Blackwell. His experience spans approximately ten vintages across the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific, supported by studies in marketing, management and international politics. He brings global wine knowledge, commercial experience and a lifelong Barossa upbringing to the Bruno & George story.
Christian Roediger
Christian Roediger’s family connection to the Barossa stretches back to the German settlers of the 1840s. The Roediger family has farmed its Riverside property at Buchsfelde for generations, working across a range of agricultural enterprises. Shiraz and Mataro were replanted at Riverside in 2013 after more than a century, continuing the family’s longstanding relationship with the land and the region’s wine industry.
Josh Norman
Josh Norman is a sixth-generation winemaker who has worked across vineyards and cellars since leaving school. By the 2019 harvest, he had completed twenty-five vintages across three countries and several wine regions, including extensive experience between the Barossa Valley and Spain. His philosophy is straightforward: great wine begins in great vineyards, and the winemaker’s role is to allow each variety or blend to develop into a wine of complexity, elegance and concentration.
