Dewey Station 2018 Anne Inspired Shiraz

This Shiraz is Dewey Station Wines flagship wine.

The fruit was sourced predominantly from the premium Ebenezer region with 8% from the southern Altona region. The juice used was 50% of the pressing portion resulting in big tannins. The tannins were softened by aging for 17-months in new French oak and bottle-aged for a further 12-months before release.

The last 5% of the pressings went into one new oak barrel.

Stefan Dewey uses oak sourced from the famous Allier Forest in France that gives the wine pleasant aromas and a soft mouthfeel.

The result is a full-bodied wine with big tannins to be enjoyed with a meat dish. Beautiful dark fruits and hints of dried lavender making a perfect wine to match with lamb.

I found that a pleasant Christmas cake flavour combined with dried herbs of lavender and rosemary seemed to linger in the mouth for hours.
