The Barossa Valley is well known around the world for Shiraz. Some regard it as the producer of the best quality Shiraz in the world. The Shiraz grape, also known as Syrah, originated in the Rhone region of southeastern France and was brought to Australia in the 1830s by James Busby who is regarded as the father of Australian wine.
The flavour of Shiraz is strongly influenced by climate with a district difference between cooler climate shiraz and warm climate shiraz. The Barossa Valley Shiraz tends to full-bodied wines with softer tannins and jammier fruit with flavours of spice and earthy leather.
In this collection, I have selected some great value Barossa Valley Shiraz with an Eden Valley Shiraz (sub-region of Barossa Valley) to highlight the cooler climate influence.
