Nero d'Avola is the most dominant red variety in Sicily and is known for having bold sweet red fruit flavours along with black pepper, licorice and spice flavours and sometimes a subtle sweet smoky finish.
This varietal does well in a hot and dry climate – therefore perfect for the Barossa Valley! The Rolf Binder vineyard team grafted Nero d’Avola cuttings onto 25-year-old rootstock in the Binder Estate ‘Riedl’ vineyard at Vine Vale. Just one hectare is now providing just enough fruit to produce roughly 110 dozen bottles.
This wine is vibrant and juicy and perfect for hot summer drinking. Also deliciously refreshing with a light chill to enhance the bright fruit flavours.
Only available through Barossa Reserve, Rolf Binder mail order or directly from their cellar door tasting room.
